autumn goodness at the lake

Over the weekend at the lake, on the last day of Daylight Saving Time, I thought it might be fun to go out on the boat to check out the fall leaves from the water.  Unfortunately, the morning was not clear and bright as I had envisioned, but instead thick with fog.  Of course, I love fog, but it does have a way of popping up at bad times.  In fact, I had never been on the lake in such thick fog...we had to drive not far from the shore in order to navigate, headed toward the banks of Lake Anna State Park.  After some time, the fog finally began to break and eventually the sun shone brightly on the foliage...picture perfect!  The leaves were definitely in their peak, with rusty browns to golden yellows, vibrant (almost neon) oranges and deep reds.  I am so glad we were able to enjoy the boat and appreciate some of the last colors before winter sets in.  Now...time to hibernate?
